E-Bike Search and Rescue Team

The E-Bike Team is an emerging and enthusiastic specialty team within Santa Clara County Search and Rescue, exploring the use of electric bicycles to enhance search operations and improve mobility in the field.

E-bikes offer a unique combination of speed, maneuverability, and access, allowing team members to cover trails, fire roads, and other terrain efficiently while carrying essential search and rescue equipment.

The team works collaboratively with other SCCSSAR specialty teams, including Canine, Tracking, Medical and Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), to support coordinated search efforts. E-bikes can help transport personnel, equipment, communications, extend search coverage, and provide rapid support to teams operating in the field.

As this new team continues to grow, its members are enthusiastically developing skills, refining techniques, and identifying new ways to incorporate e-bikes into search and rescue missions.
